What a crazy couple of months it has been! What have you all been up to? I tell you what, life sure is crazy and it gets away from you quick!
I started the process of obtaining my masters degree at the end of August. I am currently in my second eight weeks of classes..it’s insane! I earned a bachelor’s in hospitality management in 2013 so I decided it would be a good idea to get my master’s in it also..how else am I going to teach my readers anything about the industry?
I also have started to go down a new career path. I was the Assistant General Manager at a restaurant in my hometown. I have worked at this restaurant since I was 14..moved away for a couple of years when I was 23 and now at 25 I was back. I started the AGM job in February. It was really unfortunate but I just fell out of love with my job. I wasn’t happy anymore and I was much happier doing things I was really interested in which is why this blog is always a place for me to let you guys know how I really feel and I was able to make things I wanted to make and talk about stuff I was really interested in. I decided at the end of August that I wanted to do something different. I put my 2 weeks in at my restaurant job (I am still fortunate to have a serving shift there so my 10 years isn’t for nothing) and I joined my best friend at her coffee shop! We just won an award for having the best food product in our hometown so it’s a lot of fun and all of our hard-work is paying off :).
It also means that I have entered the barista world so I can bring even more tips and tricks to you guys. I also got another part time job as a bartender at a local bar and I have to say I look forward to going to work there every night. I will bring you guys a lot of fun drink recipes and also some snack recipes inspired by our menu at the bar. I am so much happier now that I have changed career paths. It says true that if you love what you do you’ll never work a day in your life and that is now my constant mantra.
I found a picture the other night and the saying on it was “just because I wait tables doesn’t mean I don’t have any other option” and I believe this reigns 100% true. I love serving people. I find joy in it every single day. I am working on my master’s degree but I have great hours, serving makes great money, and it’s flexible. I have a ton of “family” to back me up in any situation and I know they would do anything for me.
I have a ton of fun videos coming up that will link to my blog. I have a pumpkin spice taste test, a british candy taste test, my husband and I are coming up with different challenges to film such as “what pizza delivery company has the best pizza?” Mostly just stuff so we can eat a lot and try new things for you guys. I have a Thanksgiving series coming up such as the “Brine or not to Brine” question and the real reason why homemade gravy and cranberry sauce is better than canned. I have some edible gift ideas for the holiday’s and other fun festivities.
What do you guys want to see? I missed you and I’m glad to be back :).
